Pelvic Organ Prolapse

An often scary and troublesome complaint that many women suffer. A prolapse is where one or more of the pelvic organs (bladder, uterus, bowel) descend. The organs can descend to a point that a bulge is noted at the entrance to the vagina.

The symptoms that women often talk about are a sensation of heaviness or dragging in the lower abdomen, pain and a palpable bulge at the entrance of the vagina.

Our physiotherapists are trained to assess for Pelvic Organ Prolapse, advise and assist with the conservative management of this condition.

Conservative management includes, pelvic floor rehabilitation, the use of pessaries and management of significant lifestyle and risk factors.
